Station 18: Mother and the Disciple

John 19: 25-27

Standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.

When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple there whom He loved, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son."

Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother."

And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

I took all of these photos during my daily meditation pilgrimages in various countries around the world. Most of them are a part of a series of stations, some are independent pieces, but all are unique and remarkable works of art. In most cases, the artist is not even attributed. The standard Catholic Stations of the Cross meditation consists of 14 stations, sometimes 15. However, in the course of my pilgrimage, I have discovered that there are several versions of the Stations of the Cross. I have compiled all of the stations that are included in every version I have encountered, which total 23 stations.
