Station 20: Taken Down from the Cross

John 19:38

Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus (though a secret one because he was afraid of the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate to let him remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, and he came and removed His body.

I took all of these photos during my daily meditation pilgrimages in various countries around the world. Most of them are a part of a series of stations, some are independent pieces, but all are unique and remarkable works of art. In most cases, the artist is not even attributed. The standard Catholic Stations of the Cross meditation consists of 14 stations, sometimes 15. However, in the course of my pilgrimage, I have discovered that there are several versions of the Stations of the Cross. I have compiled all of the stations that are included in every version I have encountered, which total 23 stations.
