Station 19: Commends Spirit

Luke 23:44-46

It was now about noon and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon because of an eclipse of the sun. Then the veil of the temple was torn down the middle.

Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit"; and when He had said this He breathed His last.

I took all of these photos during my daily meditation pilgrimages in various countries around the world. Each photo is part of a series of stations, unique and remarkable works of art. In most cases, the artist is not attributed. The standard Catholic Stations of the Cross meditation consists of 14, sometimes 15, stations. However, in the course of my pilgrimage, I have discovered that there are several versions of the Stations of the Cross. I have compiled all of the stations that are included in every version I have encountered, which total 23 stations.
